Yachtmaster Power

Was back at UKSA this week to do my Yachtmaster Power conversion course.

It proved to be an excellent time to do the course with fantastic weather: scorching hot sunshine, light winds and neap tides!

There was only one other person, Matt, on the course - not including John Martin who did his Helmsmans course for part of the week - and both of us passed :-)

Now for my niece's wedding in Norwich...

UKSA

Have recently finished the Ocean Graduate Course at UKSA, passing the Ocean Yachtmaster qualifications (amongst others).

I have to go back next year to take the Powerboat Conversion course but I can sort that out as and when required.

Having never sailed prior to starting the course, it was quite a steep learning curve (for most of us as well I think) to take on board all the navigation, long range radio, fire fighting, maintenance, ship security officer, approved engine conversion and all the other elements that make up the course.

However, all was ultimately successful and, apart from a few complaints, mainly directed at the state of - most of - the accommodation, the food and, how shall we put it, administrative communication, it was an excellent course.

A big thanks to all the instructors, in particular James Mitchell, Mike Symes, Ben Galloway, James Rayner, Mark Wibberly, Warren Hardwick, Steve Rouse and Bill Gardiner.
