Suunto Mosquito

I sent my computer off to Suunto Diving UK last Thursday with a covering letter explaining about going away this weekend on the yacht delivery and yesterday I received my computer back! Well, not my computer but a brand spanking new Mosquito - well chuffed!

If that's the kind of service you get from Suunto then it'll be a difficult task to convince me to use other makes!

Suunto Mosquito

Suunto have sent an email giving me the address to send my computer to in the UK but are saying that the computer is out of the warranty period: well of course it is now but it wasn't when it malfunctioned but I couldn't get the warranty info until I returned to the UK.

Browsing through old archives I managed to locate the warranty information for my dive computer.

I purchased it from Go-dive on the 16th October 2003 so it's fortunately still within the two year warranty period for dive instruments (I originally had it looked at in Australia on 12th September last year). I sent Suunto an email requesting information for getting it back to them and likely turnaround time...

Suunto Mosquito (update)

Not much joy with my computer today. The company (Mick Simmons on George Street, Sydney) are reluctant to do anything with it as they've had similar recurring problems with Mosquito's before.

End result is I'm going to have to take it back as is, drop an email to Suunto with the serial number and when I get back to the UK, try and find the invoice for when I purchased the computer (as it's JUST under two years since I bought it and still under warranty), send it off to Suunto in Finland and then hopefully they'll be able to sort it out.

In the meantime, looks like I'm going to have to rent as the cost of computers over here is steep!

Suunto Mosquito

Now off into Sydney to get my dive computer serviced. It's not been recording depth for some time now and needs sorting out.

I bought it in October 2003 so it's still within the two year warranty but the paperwork, etc., is in one of the boxes at my parents house. It had a new battery put in when I was in Townsville so hopefully it'll only need tapping with a lump hammer or something to rectify.
